PROCESS
OF CLOISONNÉ
The ancient
art of cloisonné (pronounced kloy-son-ay) requires specialized
hand crafting for each step, resulting in the highest quality
available. Cloisonné is the most distinctive and collectible
variety of emblematic jewelry. Cloisonné pigments limit
color choices, for PMS color matching with a similar appearance,
try Hard Epoxy
Resin (Imitation Cloisonné).

1.
A die is hand crafted with your design and stamped into a base
metal of copper or brass. |
 |
2.
A custom trim tool will cut the exact outline of your design. |
|
|
3.
Designated areas are filled with paints made up of cloisonné
powder and liquid. |
 |
4.
Firing is necessary after each color is applied. Each firing
hardens the cloisonné pigment and prevents colors from
running together. |
|
|
5.
Excess pigments are smoothed away using a pumice stone wheel,
then each piece is polished twice. First, to the level of the
base metal, and again with a softer polishing wheel to bring
out the shine. |
 |
6.
Each piece is dipped into plating material, which adheres to
exposed base metal. The emblem is now ready for an attachment,
quality control inspection and packaging. |
